Introduction
On 30 July 2008, IDA joined hands with Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Yahoo!, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) and Karlsruhe institute of Technology (Germany) to set up a collaboration initiative in Cloud Computing. 3 more research institutes have joined the Open Cirrus community on 8 June 2009. The new members are the Russian Academy of Sciences, South Korea’s Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, and MIMOS, a strategic research and development organization under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation in Malaysia.
As a Centre of Excellence (COE) for Asia Pacific, IDA creates opportunities for research and development in Cloud Computing, enhances local capabilities and enables users to gain easy access to this next generation service. Under the initiative, a key focus is to promote research and pilot industry projects in Cloud Computing technologies and applications.
We will like to invite you to attend the Open Cirrus Day on activities for the local research and industry communities. The session will cover the following:
1. Open Cirrus Progress Update
2. Cloud Computing Scheme
3. Discussion
Open Cirrus Progress Update
The program will share the progress of the Singapore COE and other COEs under Open Cirrus and explore potential R&D and industry project opportunities with HP Labs.
Cloud Computing Scheme
The briefing will share information of the Cloud Computing scheme available for local researchers and industry to access the Open Cirrus Testbed.
