SINGAPORE, 17 JUNE 2008—The InfoComm Development Authority (IDA) today awarded three consortia, headed by Singapore Computer Systems Ltd, PTC System (S) Pte Ltd and New Media Express Pte Ltd, to be the first National Grid service providers.
The National Grid, according to the IDA, is built upon commercial grid service providers, and seeks to make IT services affordable for businesses, providing IT services via a pay-per-use model.
The three consortia responded to a Call-For-Collaboration put out by the IDA in November last year, which invited interested vendors to submit proposals for the provision of the various aspects of the National Grid, including computing, software and data storage.
The chosen service providers are expected to offer commercial services by the end of the year. The IDA expects more than 3,000 small and medium enterprises to utilise the National Grid by 2011.
