Abstract
Grid has been touted as the next big thing
after the internet. Grid Computing began in the laboratories,
but the adoption of Grid in the commercial world has been
gaining steadily in recent years. What benefit does Grid
bring to the businesses and how can industry reap the benefits
of Grid? What are the pitfalls to avoid and what are the
best practices to adopt? This talk will provide use cases
of Grid in the enterprise and paint scenarios of how Grid
can evolve to embrace the business world and vice versa.

Guan Sin is Grid evangelist at Singapore Computer
Systems
Ltd. He is responsible for developing its Grid business
from scratch since 2003. He built his first "Grid
system" in 1997 when he participated in RC5 cracking
effort on the Internet. Prior to joining SCS, he was
with Singapore Management University as Senior Operations
Manager, building the university's state-of-the-art
IT infrastructure and operations. Earlier, he spent
his entrepreneurial years building multilingual Internet
addressing technologies and e-commerce ventures.
