Abstract

The inevitable move from a single large scale server to a distributed Grid environment is beginning to be realized across international Grid test-bed like Pacific Rim Applications and Grid Middleware Assembly (PRAGMA). Although jobs submitted to a single large server have been widely analyzed, job characteristics in a Grid environment are different as we found in our analysis of jobs submitted in the PRAGMA Grid test-bed. This talk will cover some of the activities involving the PRAGMA testbed. An area that I have a particular interest is Grid Accounting. We have successfully developed a Grid Accounting System called Multi-Organisation Grid Accounting System (MOGAS). MOGAS was been successfully deployed across the PRAGMA testbed and the deployment has certainly enlightened us on the usage characteristics of the resources across the grid test-bed. MOGAS is unique in that it captures inter-organisation usage of computational resources. I will also share collaboration in extending MOGAS. New features such as the capturing of fail jobs have also been developed.
