APEC TEL Grid Initiative (Phase 2)
Emerging Infections Network (EINet) Virtual Symposium on "Pandemic Influenza Preparedness: Partnerships & Continuity Planning for Critical Systems"
Date: 30 May 2008 (Friday)
Time: 0900 - 1400 hours (GMT+8)
AG Node in Singapore: Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore
8 Temasek Boulevard
Level 14, Suntec Tower 3, Singapore 038988
The NGO will be provisioning an Access Grid to support the above virtual symposium organized by APEC EINET (http://depts.washington.edu/einet). The objective of this event is to discuss how private and public sectors in the APEC region can cooperate and work effectively to prepare for and respond to an influenza pandemic. Representatives from the private and public sectors from each economy will make presentations.
Through this virtual symposium, the organizers hope to promote regional information sharing and collaboration to enhance pandemic preparedness. In order to improve preparedness regionally, it is vital to understand how each economy in the region is undertaking this task. In this process, EINet will:
-
Bring together economies in a dynamic, real-time discussion on preparedness through the collaboration of the health and the business/trade sectors, with a focus on critical systems continuity.
-
Share specific examples of current practices (e.g., scenario exercises, communication drills and policy evaluation).
-
Use innovative technologies (e.g., Access Grid) for real-time, virtual interchange, enhancing their utility for future collaboration and response in the event of a pandemic.
Admission to this event is by invitation only. Please contact Wallis Lee (temp_wallislee@ngp.org.sg) by 1200hrs, 29 May 2008, if you are interested to attend.
