Abstract

PBS Pro is a flexible resource and workload management system that can intelligently queues and schedules computation workload across complex networks and platforms. With its advanced reservation and meta-computing features, it is the enabling technology for computational grids and wide-area distributed computing.

The presentation will be oriented towards a broader audience by focusing on the following agenda: HPC trends, cluster adoption, workload management, case studies, and a vision for distributed computing. As an example for the above agenda, case studies for Altair, Automobile OEM Account, Chrysler, NASA and US Department of Defense will be discussed.

* Altair case study would highlight PBS Pro and e-compute integration.
* Automobile OEM case study would highlight both their data center and
workstation clusters.
* Chrysler case study would highlight peer-to-peer grids.
* NASA case study would highlight Globus/PBS Pro integration and large grids.
* The Department of Defense would highlight massive scalability.
